Coliro Pearlcolors are highly pigmented metallic watercolours handmade in Germany by Finetec GmbH. Their intense shimmer makes them ideal for calligraphy, hand lettering, illustration and decorative artwork.

Simply add a few drops of water to the Pearlcolor and allow it to activate before use. Apply with a paintbrush, water brush or calligraphy nib.

Pearlcolors work beautifully on both light and dark paper, with many shades producing particularly striking results on black and coloured surfaces.

How to use Coliro Pearlcolors

Add a few drops of water directly to the Pearlcolor and leave it for a short time to activate.

Mix the water into the pigment with a brush until you achieve a smooth, creamy consistency. You can then paint directly with a brush or transfer the colour to a calligraphy nib.

For the strongest metallic effect, allow your work to dry fully so the shimmer can develop.

Add depth, drama and metallic shimmer to your artwork with Black Tones Coliro Pearlcolors. Choose from nine individual dark shades ranging from matte black and sparkling black to deep berry, forest green, chocolate brown and smoky silver-grey.

These highly pigmented water-activated paints are ideal for adding dark, shimmering details to calligraphy, hand lettering, illustration and decorative artwork.

Black & dark shades available

Black Pearl (C004) – Rich black with sparkling glitter.
Black Currant (C057) – Beautiful deep purple with an almost-black appearance.
Black Forest (C040) – Intense, very dark green.
Black Mica (C001) – Classic matte black. Use plenty of water when mixing, but don’t leave it soaking for too long.
Blackberry (C016) – Deep berry shade with excellent lightfastness.
Chocolate (C010) – Rich dark brown. Mix thoroughly to bring out the depth of colour.
Dark Star (C053) – Dramatic black with sparkling glitter.
Meteor (C054) – Smoky grey with glitter. Use plenty of water to release the glitter particles.
Silver Grey (C002) – Shimmering silver-grey.

Choosing your Coliro black or dark shade

For a classic black, choose Black Mica.

For black with sparkle, try Black Pearl or Dark Star.

For a deep coloured alternative to black, choose Black Currant for purple, Black Forest for green, Blackberry for berry or Chocolate for brown.

For a softer grey finish, choose Silver Grey.

For grey with extra sparkle, Meteor is the best choice.
